Meningitis B Vaccine

  • 1 min read

We are now offering the Meningitis B vaccine “Bexsero” at Clann Medical Centre for those who have not had it as part of their routine childhood vaccines (i.e. children born before 1st October 2016).

The vaccine is not part of the national immunisation programme for this age group and there is currently no catch-up programme in place in Ireland. Those wishing to vaccinate their children must do so privately.

As we do not routinely carry the vaccines in our fridge, it needs to be ordered in advance and full payment is required up front.

Two doses are required and are given 1 month apart for all those older than 2 years.

The total cost for the purchase of and administration of the 2 vaccine doses by our practice Nurses is €320.

The vaccine cannot be given to anybody who has a history of anaphylaxis to any of the vaccine constituents, including latex. Those with non- anaphylactic latex allergies may be given Bexsero.
